"Roni is an inspirational member of our team. Her dedication to her craft is always evident; she approaches working with children with such passion and drive that is a model for her colleagues. She is completely invested in the lives of each child in her class and demonstrates this in the way she caters for their individual needs, both academic and personally. The beautiful work she crafts shines through in the form of the success of the children she teaches achieves."

An Inspiring Curriculum
I have worked with Anna Kyrk to develop a curriculum plan for Reception which enables us to choose exciting and inspiring projects each term, whilst also ensuring that we are helping them to develop critical skills and knowledge throughout the year. I hope that as we begin to follow this plan over the next few years, we will be able to create a bank of planning, resources and ideas that can be adapted to suit each individual cohort of children.
Fantastic Results
Exciting Environments
At each setting that I have taught at, I have ensured that the environment is organised and decorated in way that is conducive to learning, with examples of excellent work, and inspiring for children. I want children to be independent within their rooms, so that they are able to access resources on their own and put them away too. I also believe that a classroom should include lots of children's work and photographs in order to stimulate discussions and encourage children to be proud of their achievements.
Building Relationships
I consider my 'beautiful work' to be the relationships that I develop with the children and their families. This starts long before they enter my class; in May I conducted 85% of the home visits in order to make that first connection and start getting to know the children and their needs.
I believe it is important to be visible and approachable to parents, so I ensure that parents have my email address and see me every day, even on my PPA/management mornings. I also pride myself in getting to know the names of additional family members, and information about them because it adds to the community-like environment.
Children feel safe, secure, loved and valued in my class. They are eager to come to school and learn through interesting and exciting opportunities. Wonder and questions are highly valued within my classroom.
Children are always encouraged to ask questions about the world and I use flexibility to ensure that we have high quality discussions as and when necessary. This links closely to Language and Well being, which are key priorities for the school. The latest initiative I am about to introduce is the use of spontaneous Talk Times throughout the day, where I will stop the class and pose a question or show a stimulus which encourages 2-3 minutes of discussions. This will give the children a chance to increase their use of vocabulary and language within informal contexts and to work with other children.
